Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance

The Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance (BNMA) represents the voice of small to mid-sized manufacturers in the Western New York region.  The BNMA is committed to supporting manufacturers’ needs related to the smooth operation of their everyday business.  Manufacturing employees account for over 17% of all income earned in Erie and Niagara Counties. The greatest challenge faced by our members today is access to a skilled workforce.  Today, there are approximately 3,000 jobs that remain open in this exciting space. The BNMA seeks to enhance the economic strength of the region, by acting as a primary resource for manufacturing intelligence, training, and program support which assist to promote manufacturing excellence. BNMA is committed to developing a world-class business environment while building on our storied history of manufacturing in WNY and promoting our story nationally.  


About Us

The Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance (BNMA) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) association representing over 180 businesses and organizations across Western New York. The BNMA is a catalyst of innovation, a champion for education, and a builder of partnerships that keep manufacturing in Western New York moving forward. BNMA members supply the region, state, nation and world with amazing products and services. The BNMA’s members represent over 20,000 workers in our region.

Why participate in
Registered Apprenticeship?

Labor market and workforce intelligence sources tell us that the supply of workers being created through the WNY education system is not enough to meet the labor demand for occupations within the framework of advanced manufacturing. This problem compounded by the attrition rate caused by retirements, further leaving gaps in the manufacturing labor force. To address this shortage, the BNMA has joined up with their sister alliance, MACNY to leverage their expertise in running successful Intermediary Apprenticeship Program.


Related Technical Instruction and On the Job Training

Each apprentice is required to complete to 144 hours or outside training each year. This training is generally a combination of online and in-classroom training. The BNMA has partnered with MACNY, Tooling U, Northland Workforce Training Center and our local community colleges to create and support customized training designed to meet the apprenticeship requirements.
