NYSMIAP is the New York State Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program. We work directly with the New York State Department of Labor to create registered apprentices with companies across the state. NYSMIAP also partners with technical training providers across the country to coordinate or provide related instruction for the apprentices.
We serve five regions across the state:
Our goal is to grow the manufacturing industry across the state through registered apprenticeships.
Manufacturing accounts for 9 percent of the U.S. economy. It also is one of the largest multipliers of the economy, generating $1.81 for every dollar spent. However, the average age of a skilled worker is 56 years old. Apprentices are needed to bolster the manufacturing industry.
Over 75,000 apprentices have been hired in New York State since 2014. These apprentices reduce employee turnover by fostering greater employee loyalty and productivity. Through on-the-job training and related instruction, apprentices become valuable, productive employees.
